As a former engineer and current teacher I am committed to integrating Engineering Design projects into high science courses and curriculum. Engineering encourages divergent, creative thinking, problem solving and collaboration. In short, engineering “habits of mind” are the 21st century skills our students need.
I began my career with degrees in materials engineering and international affairs. And I have always been interested in innovation, technology transfer and global issues. My vision may have been ahead of its time 30 years ago, but it is the imperative of the future for young people of today.
